The Dagu Ethiopian Development Consortium (Dagu) aims to create a future for the Afar Region characterized by sustainable development, lasting peace, and resilient communities. We focus on empowering our local member organizations to implement high-impact programs in the following sectors
Humanitarian Response & Resilience Building
This is a core area, addressing the current context of conflict and displacement.
✅ Emergency Services: Mobilizing CSOs for frontline service delivery to address immediate needs stemming from recent conflict and displacement.
✅ Resilience Programs: ointly designing and funding interventions focused on building long-term community resilience to shocks and stresses, which often includes food security, livelihoods, and disaster risk reduction.
Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion
Addressing the fractured social cohesion in the region is a critical part of Dagu’s mission
✅ Conflict Resolution: Supporting programs focused on resolving local disputes and fostering community-level peace initiatives
✅ Social Dialogue: Enhancing platforms where communities can rebuild trust and social cohesion following periods of conflict
